Inside the mind of an Adrenaline Junkie!

July 26th, 2016

From the first time I threw myself out of a plane I knew I had just entered a realm of what some would call "insanity". Skydiving, contrary to popular belief, is not all that scary. In fact, once you've left the plane at 14,000ft it's one of the most peaceful moments. All the adrenaline from the plane ride up has lifted and you're left with this amazing feeling of freedom and euphoria. It is by far one of my most favourite experiences to date. My first skydive was Taupo in New Zealand at 15,000ft, followed by Mission Beach, and most recently over my second home, Melbourne and St Kilda beach :) Forever looking forward to the next freefall.

Next was bungy jumping. Which is, for the record, a million times scarier and mentally challenging than skydiving. As i'm sure you've noticed, I have a 0% fear of heights or jumping off of things, unless it's into water where I have no idea what's down there, and then that's a different story!

But bungy jumping is definitely my favourite adrenaline rush. From the second you stand up with the harness attached to your ankles and inch your way out to the platform your heart is already racing a mile a minute. Palms sweaty. Knees week. Arms are heavy. Where have I heard this before...?

Anyways! If you're looking for a cheap (ish) thrill, get yourself to your nearest bungy site and ask for the hardest, most adrenaline rushing jump they have! In my case, this was called "the fruit bat". Rather than jumping, fruit bat has you lay on your stomach and inch out over the platform until the upper half of your body is dangling over. The guys then elevate you by your ankles, shake you around a bit, and DROP you towards your DEATH! That may be a bit dramatic but that's basically what it feels like in the moment. Thanks to the crew at AJ Hackatt in Cairns, Australia for this experience! You've got me hooked and I can't wait to get myself to the Nevis in Queenstown, New Zealand!
